Shevet Matar was established in 2009, but began fully operating in 2011. Matar is part of the Tsabar chapters in North America, offering Jewish and Israeli youth a unique opportunity to participate in the programs and activities of the Israeli Scouts. Tzofim provide a supportive and inclusive environment for the youth to learn, grow and develop important life skills.

Shevet Matar has about 205 members in grades 4-12. Matar's activities are all held in Hebrew, once a week on Sundays. The activities are carried out by the counselor in 10th-12th grade (Shachbag), in an Israeli atmosphere, where youth leads youth. The Shachbag initiates activities and leads the Shevet throughout the year in weekly meetings, camps, events and ceremonies.  In our meetings, we deal with issues of Jewish and Israeli identity, strengthening ties to Israel, emphasizing democracy and community service, celebrating holidays and dates, developing leadership skills, independence, responsibility and more.

Matar serves as a unifying factor for the Hebrew speaking community in the Greater Seattle area, by holding community events for the benefit of the Israeli and Jewish community throughout the year.  Tzofim programs foster values ​​of social diversity, tolerance, inclusion and strong ethics, as well as community involvement and service. The scouts inspires and empowers young people to have a positive impact on the communities they belong to.

The World Scout Organization is an apolitical movement that founded and developed a program based on educational values. The program encourages teenagers to be involved in a variety of enjoyable social activities.  The movement was founded in 1907 by Robert Baden-Powell, an officer in the British Army. Over the years the movement has grown and developed, and today it has 38 million members in 217 countries and territories.​
